Today, like
every day, is a great day to ride...
... so hit the road Biker!
Hello, and welcome to the Emerald Coast Harley
Owner's Group (HOG) Chapter Web Site. We are glad you found this site and hope it will
convince you to come and share our favorite pastimes, riding and socializing, in one of
the most beautiful areas of the world. For those of you unfamiliar with the Emerald Coast
of Northwest Florida, it is blessed with sugar white beaches and emerald green waters,
friendly people, and best of all, favorable motorcycling weather most (some would say all)
of the year. It does get cold for a few days to a few weeks at a time between November and
March, but we usually can squeeze a few great riding days into those "winter"
months. Please look around our site and if you have any questions about HOG or any of our
group activities, please feel free to drop me an e-mail EmeraldCoast_Admin@echog.com or stop by our
sponsor,
History
Our founding fathers were Buddy Cotton and Ken
Russell. They approached the late John Pritchard who was the owner of Heritage
Cycles H-D about this brilliant idea of joining a lot of other Harley only clubs across
America known as HOG. Luckily he had the good sense to sponsor these independent
bikers and Emerald Coast HOG Chapter was born with about 80 charter members.
The club's first director was Buddy Cotton.
The club's first year was a busy one, not only
did they author a charter for the new chapter, they also took the reins of an annual Toys
4 Tots event that was previously sponsored by independent bikers. Back in those days
along with proceeds going to some Okaloosa County Schools, an Orphanage in Milton sold the
T-Shirts collecting money to help their cause.
Still today the annual Toys 4 Tots is the
highlight of the year for our chapter. The proceeds and all the toys collected go to
the Emerald Coast Child Advocacy Center and Children In Crisis. One thing remains
"It's allll gooood!!!!"
If you were a member of our club and have some
memories you'd like to share please email me
with any inputs on our history.
